Food Surprises - Kaya Pau @ Menglembu, Ipoh

I had been revisiting this place for its Pau (Steam Bun) again this time... We had to pack 30 buns for our Cameron Highland group trip. It was not my intention to blog on Fooooooods... but just can't help doing so :P

Kind of addicted to blog something interesting these days, especially when it can be shared with others. I guess food is one of the common itinerary when one goes on vacation.

Found this place from my GPS one day, and we were eager to try out new eating place. From the front of the shop, we though this is just a normal famous WanTon Mee (noodle) shop. It seems serving its famous Hailam Pau too, after noticing its huge newspaper cuttings showed all around the walls in the coffee shop.

Its a very traditional coffee shop, I should say. Seldom we could see such furniture in today's modern coffee shops. Overall, the shop is not too pack as I observed, may stopped by just to pack either their WanTon Mee or Pau. They are famous of its Kaya Pao, each cost rm1.30. To be exact, they sell Hainanese style of pau.

I typically prefer roasted pork pau.
Type of Pau they sell...

Heard there is another restaurant next door selling Cantonese style pau. Their Char Siew Pau taste better. We will certainly try it one day, will definitely has to be in an afternoon as it opens only late morning/afternoon.

Certainly the pau - both kaya and char siew were delicious. There are indeed the traditional pau cos' the pau skin is not like the Hong Kong style that puffs on top and sticks to your teeth. The next time I am in Ipoh I will definitely try the one next door since you said it might be better. Thanks for the info. Food, glorious food.
